RORY (NOW LEMMY)
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
Today we are celebrating Lemmy’s 1st birthday! When we brought her home she was super shy and a little skittish especially around our 2 dogs. Today she is right at home with her new family. She is such a little love bug and always ready to play! We are so happy to have her in our lives & thankful for everyone at CAAA. -Amanda B. |
CLEO (NOW LUCY)
ADOPTED MARCH 2019
My husband and I were looking for a cat to share our home with. I had been looking at the Cape Ann Animal Aid website every now and then to see what pets they had for adoption. One day my husband and I decided to go in person and look around for a cat. When we first met Cleo (now Lucy) she was so friendly and energetic that we knew we had to get her! Once we brought her home, she fit right into our lives. She now has the run of the house and likes to get into some mischief of climbing on counters and scratching at doors. I am so thankful for the Cape Ann Animal Aid staff and volunteers for taking care of Lucy before she was adopted. Our family loves her so much and couldn't imagine our home without her. -Sarah T. |
SAM (NOW JESSIE)
ADOPTED MARCH 2020
While searching for a puppy to give a forever home, I came across the CAAA website. After seeing a picture of “Sam” - now Jessie - I knew I had to go meet her. After just a few minutes of meeting her, I knew I couldn’t leave without taking her with me - and that’s what I did! Jessie is the spunkiest, little love and just what I needed! She loves anything she can chew, laying in the sun, and car rides, but she’d trade all those things for her all time favorite - belly rubs! I’m so thankful for CAAA allowing me to have her in my life - I can no longer imagine doing anything without her by my side! -Stephanie B. |
JESSIE
ADOPTED JANUARY 2008
I wanted to share a photo of our cat Jessie, that I adopted back in 2008. She has brought nothing but absolute joy to our lives. She is sweet, loving, loyal, remarkably beautiful, and just an absolute love bug to our twin 8 year old boys who can’t get enough of her. She gives us sweet little kisses and head rubs regularly and has the loudest most calming purr. She is my first cat and I wish I could have more like her. Thank you for rescuing animals like her for us to love and be loved back. The picture I’m sharing is her from the day I took her home on the left to her gorgeous self now on the right. Thank you again for bringing this love into our lives. -Amy C. |
MEEKO (NOW STELLA)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
My husband and I had been looking for a lab mix pup for over a month with no luck. I had recently lost my family dog to old age and my heart was aching for a pup to fill it. On a whim, we decided to drive up to Gloucester and take a look around. We were pleasantly surprised when we got to meet Meeko and her brother Mushu. The staff was amazing and let us spend as much time as we wanted inside and out playing with them. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. We ultimately chose Meeko, who we renamed Stella. She is smart as a whip and full of puppy energy. Certainly giving us a run for our money, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. She loves to run in the yard, go hiking, car rides, and de-fluff her stuffed babies. Thank you CAAA for connecting us with our fur baby! -Michelle M. |
COAL (NOW HICKS)
ADOPTED 2018
We adopted "Coal" in 2018, under the assumption he was a large 4 month old. He was not. He was approx. 7 months from what our vet told us, but it didn't stop us from loving him. He was on his way to becoming a great service dog, but unfortunately flunked out after an incident with another dog. He was doing his best to protect me, and thankfully he is okay physically. He is now a semi-retired service dog (still great at home only therapy) and a guard dog. He is almost 100 pounds of lean muscle, he definitely came a long way from being a doofy dog. -Hortencia |
SUMMER (NOW ADDIE)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2017
We weren't really "looking" for another dog at the time we adopted little Summer from Cape Ann Animal Aid. We have a senior Shepherd mix (then 11, now 14!) after seeing a video of her, I instantly knew, "Elsa needs this little one for a friend". There was a widespread snow storm happening, but in spite of this, we made arrangements to travel down to Gloucester as soon as the roads were passable from Maine. When they let little Summer into the meeting room, she rushed right in, peed, and jumped into my lap. DONE! this little wiggly blonde puppy would come home with us to Maine. A few days later, after her arrival at home to meet her new Friends Elsa (the dog) and Tobey (the cat) I started to have feelings of "oh what have I done" My old dog hates the idea, the cat is not happy with a bouncy puppy, etc...I thought I had made a terrible mistake and started to think we shouldn't have gotten her. Long story short? We almost brought her back....but SOO glad we didn't! Our older dog adjusted, the cat even liked her antics...and we Love her to pieces. Our senior dog, now 14, loves her. Sadly, our original cat passed away, but our new kitten loves Addie, and we can't imagine life without her! -Kitty L. |
FAITH & GRACE
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
Recall Grace & Faith, a pair of sister's that seemed determined to improve someone's life? Today, the twins turned 3 and their adoptive mom decided to arrange a celebration. Needless to say, someone's life has been measurably improved. The girls now live in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, play on the beach, enjoy family and most of all a generous portion of love and attention. -Michael K. |
CAMO (NOW BRUIN)
MUSHU (NOW BUDDY)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
I came to Cape Ann Animal Aid prepared to be patient and reserved to take my time finding the best dog for my lifestyle. What I was unprepared for was an immediate attraction to a dog a lot bigger than I had anticipated. Once we played with “Mushu” in the enclosed area and outside, every member of my family was in love. I was a little nervous at the size of his paws as I was approaching 60 a little too fast with a gimpy knee. Not long after he arrived, we formed a truce about the stairs, which has to happen when you are taking a puppy out every 1.5 hours. Once the social distancing was put into effect, we quickly bonded on walks and in our routines. I can already say this is the nicest dog I have ever owned. He doesn’t insist, he cooperates. We are 48 hours into no accidents at 3 weeks. He knows 5 words well and is wonderful company. I’m so glad Buddy came home with me before COVID-19 hit. He is a blessing. Thank you for rescuing him from Texas and getting him to a safe place to be part of our family’s life. -Dianne F. |
CRACKLE (NOW PEARL)
PERRY (NOW BANDIT)
COOKIE (NOW SKYE)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
We had been looking for weeks for a playmate for our adult male cat, Kuto. We were drawn to Cape Ann Animal Aid when we saw online that they had kittens! We met Skye (formally known as Cookie) and fell in love with her immediately. We were able to take her home that day. She adapted to our home almost immediately. Her brother took to her in just a few days, and now they are the best of friends! We cannot imagine what our lives were like before our purry, cuddly, PLAYFUL little blue-eyed baby. I would recommend CAAA to anyone looking for a fur baby! -Claire P. |
INDIA ("INDY")
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
We all felt as though we needed a new furry friend in our lives. We first started just looking at dogs, but never really thought we would add a new member to our family. One thing led to another, and suddenly we're driving up to Cape Ann Animal Shelter to pick up this little sweetheart. -Jonathan J. |
SIDNEY
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
My feisty, ear-tipped girl has settled in. I am playing by her rules and she has made tremendous progress in a few short weeks. She no longer spends much time under the bed, and she loves to be petted and loved! She is one of the sweetest cats I have ever met! So happy she is mine... and I am hers! -Diane L. |
ZOEY (NOW DAISY)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
We brought home Daisy (formally Zoey) just a few weeks ago but it feels like she’s been our dog forever. Our beloved dog of 15 1/2 years crossed the Rainbow Bridge in December and his passing left an enormous hole in our hearts that we never thought we could fill. Along came our Daisy! Even though there will always be an ache for all our dogs that came before her our hearts and home are once again filled with love and joy. She’s such a good girl (with a bit of a mischievous streak!). She loves to run around our yard at top speed, go for walks around our neighborhood, ride in the car, visit with her grandparents, soak up all the attention from our friends, and snuggle with us at the end of a long day. We couldn’t have found a more perfect dog for us and feel like she rescued us as much as we rescued her. -Kristen D. |
DIXIE AND FINNIAN (NOW NYLA AND RALPH WALDO EMERSON)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2018 AND MAY 2019
We adopted Nyla (Dixie) in November 2018 and Ralph Waldo Emerson (aka Mr. Waldo, formerly known as Finian) in May 2019. They have become such an important part of our family. Nyla and Waldo have grown into the cutest of friends. They love to run around, wrestle with each other, and most importantly, they love cuddles! Whenever we come home we often find Waldo and Nyla cuddled up together. When she hears us walking down the hallway towards our apartment Nyla darts towards the door, ready to be picked up, and give us kisses and head boops-- we think she’s part dog! Waldo loves his cuddle time on the couch watching sports with his papa. We are so happy that we made the decision to adopt from your shelter. Nyla and Waldo are now a part of our family. We could not imagine our lives without them! -Zenab and Zach S. |
ONIX (NOW BIEKE)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
For my birthday/Valentine's Day weekend, my fiancé took me to Cape Ann Animal Aid all the way from Worcester, MA. I had wanted a kitten for a while since our two cats were already seniors when we started dating and I wanted the full cat experience. When we got to the shelter, there were 3-4 kittens available. The female kitten was just being adopted. We turned to see the two male kittens and when I saw them it was instant love. They were black with green eyes (which was my dream cat), and to top it off they had come all the way from PUERTO RICO! As a Puerto Rican, I thought it was meant to be! I played with them both but Onix won my heart being the smallest and most loving/playful! In the shortest time, he has every animal and human in this household wrapped around his fingers/paws/toe beans! Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid for such an amazing adoption experience! -Adrianna L. |
GIADA & TOVA
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2020
I visited petfinder to see I if could find the right dog for me. It was awhile since I last had a dog and felt the time was right. I saw Tova and Giada on Cape Ann Animal Aid's website. I was touched by their description and their cute picture. I decided that I wanted to visit them and see if we were a good fit. I was glad to see that we were. I was more than happy to adopt them together and they seem to be adapting very well. They’re very playful and happy in their forever home. -Mark W. |
PIPER (NOW WRIGLEY)
ADOPTED JANUARY 2020
When we first brought Wrigley (formerly Piper) to Boston, she was terrified of just about everything--elevators, doors, heaters, stairs, other dogs...the list went on. In just the two weeks we've had her she's come out of her shell so much! She's practically fearless now, and eagerly goes to the dog park daily to play with her new friends. We couldn't imagine our lives without our goofy pup and we're so grateful to Cape Ann Animal Aid for bringing her into our lives! -Madeline U. |
