MARY MARY (NOW MAB)
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
It had been a year since my 16 yr old kitty had passed and our home was lonely for a cat. Little did we know how such a tiny kitty would fill our home with so much activity. Mab is so full of energy and is absolutely hilarious in her playing and bouncing around us. Mab makes me laugh every day. She’s the best! -Bonnie M. |
PRALINE (NOW SULLIVAN)
ADOPTED JANUARY 2020
I flew in from Colorado to spend the weekend with my best friend at her home in Gloucester. After lunch one day, she suggested we stop by Cape Ann Animal Aid. She knew I had been looking for a puppy for quite some time now with no luck. The odds of finding the right puppy for my family was slim to none here in Gloucester, I was convinced. Besides, I live in Colorado! This was just going to be a fun thing to do! We walked in and we passed the kennels of such cute sweet looking dogs. We got to the very last kennel and I spotted “him”. That’s the one I had to at least meet and hold!! The awesome volunteers brought him to a bigger pen where my friend and I spent an hour and a half playing with him. I FaceTimed my husband and two teenage sons to meet the puppy virtually. I told them I think I need to bring this little guy home. They agreed and said I think that is the one we’ve been looking for! On Jan 22nd I was flying home on South West with this little puppy, sound asleep in a carrier on the floor under the seat in front of me. He was making the pilgrimage home to start living his best life EVAH! Welcome home Sullivan!!!! -Chrissy H. |
COOKIE AND BEBO (NOW JONATHAN AND ANTONI)
ADOPTED JANUARY 2020
I had been saying I wanted to adopt an animal for quite some time. I went to a few shelters and very few cats were available for adoption. Those who were, I didn't feel connected to. When I walked into Cape Ann Animal Aid and entered Cookie and Bebo's cage, I felt the love and support they had for one another. I held them both, and said: "Let's start filling out the paperwork". They have changed my life dramatically for the better. I am more grounded knowing no matter what kind of day I have, they're going to be there. This is the best decision I've ever made and Cape Ann Animal Aid has provided the best care I've ever received. Thank you for taking care of my babies and making me a cat mom! -Stephanie R. |
QUEENIE (NOW TESSIE)
ADOPTED JANUARY 2020
After losing our two older pups in the last year and a half we were ready to heal the hole they left in our hearts. We visited a few shelters and checked their websites daily. One day we noticed that Cape Ann Animal Aid had several dogs that we were interested in. When we first saw Queenie, we felt an immediate tug at our hearts. After sitting with her we decided she was the one for us. Cape Ann Animal Aid staff were very friendly and pleasant to work with. Tessie, as we have chosen to rename her, has instantly become a part of our family. She loves her belly rubs and running around in our fenced in play yard. -Fran H. |
STORMY
ADOPTED JANUARY 2020
My sweet senior standard Munchkin (18 years 7 months) crossed the Rainbow Bridge and I found myself without a fur baby for the first time in 48 years! I brought Stormy home the day of our last "snow storm". Stormy is now living her best life and she has certainly brightened mine. The photo shows her high up in the atrium watching the snowflakes fall over Hull bay. - Kay C. |
MOOSE (NOW BRODY)

BABY CORNFLAKE
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
On my birthday (New Years Eve), my daughter Kayleigh and I went to Cape Ann Animal Aid. That was the best decision we could have made that day because we adopted Baby Cornflake. She is best thing that has happened to me and my daughter. She is so spoiled, and the most caring cat I've ever had. So lovable, smart and she shares the same birthday as my daughter so it was meant to be. Even at the age of 16 she still plays with rope / string, is always wanting love, and is a purr machine. She's an amazing addition to our family. I am so glad we were able to give her a better life. She's amazing and is doing so well. -Nicole G. |
JENNER
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
My daughter already had a cat named Buckley, and she kept saying she wanted to get Buckley a little friend because he was getting lazy as he got older. I adopted Jenner for my daughter for Christmas. I gave her Jenner Christmas eve and she cried she was so happy. Jenner couldn't be placed in a better home. He is so loved and his big brother Buckley helps take care of him. He has settled in nicely! -Jacqueline S. |

I adopted Loki at the beginning of the new year and couldn’t have picked a better kitty! He is the friendliest, sweetest cat I have ever met! He fit in immediately with my crew that includes myself, my crazy toddler and my 14 year old papillon! Loki enjoys playing with my son, chasing the dog around and snuggling with me! We all adore him! Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid! -Amy K. |
DIXON
ADOPTED JANUARY 2020
My landlord would not allow pets. I felt my home was empty and started looking around for a new place so I could have a furry friend. But one Friday out of the blue my landlord told me I could FINALLY have a pet. I raced to Cape Ann Animal Aid right after work, after finding Dixon on their website. His story about travelling up from Virginia after his owner passed away really touched me. I went and met him and knew immediately he was coming home with me. We had a fantastic weekend. He is such a love bug and I finally feel like my home is complete! -Dawn S. |
DUCHESS (NOW MILA)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2019
We were so happy to welcome Mila (formerly Duchess) into our home, just in time for the holidays! Having always had animals around, it definitely felt like our new home was missing a furry friend. I had been trying to convince my husband to adopt a cat for quite some time, but he always claimed to not be a “cat person”. Well, as soon as we brought Mila home, they instantly became best friends. Her personality has definitely blossomed in her new home, and she is the perfect mix of spunk and sass, while also loving cuddle time. We couldn’t picture life without her! Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid! -Brianna & Jake D. |
WESLEY AND MERCEDES
IVAN
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
Ivan is our first cat and we could not have asked for a sweeter kitty! He's a love, so curious and full of energy. Since he was joining a home with two dogs, it was a bit noisy for a while - barking barking barking! They were just really excited and curious about the new addition. But within a few weeks we now have a peaceful home, and the dogs love Ivan and he loves playing with them. Thank you so much for helping us take Ivan home before Christmas. He was the best Christmas gift to our family. -Kathleen W. |
JAMES AND JESSIE (NOW HUCKLE AND NEKO)
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
We adopted these beautiful, sweet kitten siblings on New Year’s Eve and they have absolutely made our family complete. They have settled in so well and our three-year son is absolutely delighted; they play constantly with each other, and have recently started to let our family dog join in. It is clear that they were well socialized and cared for by the staff and volunteers at CAAA. Our bed is now full every night with two kittens and a dog, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! -Maureen V. |
TITO (NOW BOOMER)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2019
He went by Tito when he was at Cape Ann Animal Aid, but now he officially goes by Boomer. Boomer came from Puerto Rico and he’s as happy as can be here at his new home in Salem, MA. Some of the things he loves doing: hogging the pillow at night, belly rubs, and the running the sink faucet. Boomer is currently sleeping on my foot while I’m typing this. He seems to be a great shadow, following us around from room to room even if it means waking up from a deep sleep. He’s the best. Very happy we could give him a home, thank you for allowing us to rescue our new family member. -Connor M. |
HEATH
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2018
We adopted Heath and he has been the best thing that has happened to us in years. He goes everywhere with me, from the day I adopted him to present. I'm a licensed unrestricted construction supervisor general contractor. He has been in more cities and towns in Massachusetts than most human beings. He's been in every house that I have done work in and my clients love him. In July of last year, we also adopted Monsi the chihuahua from Puerto Rico and they are best friends since day one. On October 6th of last year, we acquired a third member, a little Rottweiler puppy from North Carolina. They all love each other and they fulfill our lives and bring joy everywhere we take them--everyone loves them! They have a great life now and will be with us for life. -David S. |
