PEDRO AND THEA (NOW JACK AND ZELDA)
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2019
These two licking and lap lovers have found their forever home! I spent months looking for the right dogs, and I found so many wonderful pups, but I hadn't met the right one for me. As soon as I saw these two I knew I had to meet them. The overwhelmingly loving greeting from these two took my heart immediately and I knew I had found my family. In the short time that we have been together, we have learned so much about each other. I can't imagine a life without them. We have gone from exploring the neighborhood to exploring the great outdoors. And we still have a lot of learning and growing together to do, but the three of us could not be happier! I am so happy that I was able to take this pair, they love each other and have been through so much together. Thank you for bringing us together! -Sara G. |
GALLE (NOW ROCCO)
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
My family always had dogs growing up and after many years without one I was finally in a place where I could provide a dog with a high quality life, so I went to Cape Ann Animal Aid. They made the adoption process incredibly easy and after meeting several dogs, I ended up taking Rocco home. He has an incredibly sweet personality and I could not have ended up with a better companion. Now Rocco gets to spend his days napping on the couch, playing with his toys, and going for walls around Beacon Hill and Boston Common. I think I can speak for both of us when I say we couldn't be happier! - Nathan L. |
ADAM (NOW HENRY)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2019
Henry could not be more wonderful. He loves people and to be scratched on his belly. He is curious, outgoing, and gentle. His favorite things to do are snuggle with mom and play with his friends at the dog park! He is spoiled with toys, bones, and lots of pets and snuggles. He likes to show off the commands he’s learning to new people. He loves taking trips to the beach and walks through our neighborhood in Somerville, where more people know his name than mine! He is the perfect companion. -Christina A. |
NIMBUS
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2019
Corey and I are from Newton Center, MA and our apartment was missing something, but we didn't know what that was! We finally came to realize we thought it was time to get a four legged friend for our home. We had been talking about adopting a cat, and would start looking after the holidays. A week before Christmas, I found the Cape Ann Animal Aid website. I clicked on adoptable cats, scrolled down and right there in front of me wearing a unicorn hat, was Nimbus. The cutest cat I had ever seen. I started tearing up and crying, because I knew he was the one I wanted to meet and bring home. It was less than 24 hours, we drove to Gloucester, and he was finally ours. The staff was so friendly, and made this moment feel incredibly special! It was the perfect Christmas present I could've ever received! Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid for everything! -Marina P. |
LYNETTE (NOW PEPPER)
ADOPTED JANUARY 2004
Pepper was adopted from CAAA in January of 2004 at the approximate age of three month, making her 16 years old! She came from Puerto Rico. She frequently sleeps with her tongue hanging out! She still loves her daily walks, and looks forward to her weekly treat of spaghetti and meatballs every Wednesday!!! - Judi J. |
LAILA (NOW LAYLA)
TOMMY (NOW COPPER)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2019
I was going through a rough patch struggling with my anxiety when my mom suggested maybe a puppy to keep me busy--someone to cuddle with and love me. I saw Copper's brother online and showed up to Cape Ann Animal Aid only to find out that he had been adopted. Did I want to see his brother? I said sure! This dog did not look like his brother at all BUT he quickly stole my heart. He follows me everywhere! He is always so happy to see me--like he hadn’t seen me in years. He sleeps in my bed every night. I adopted an angel and he has a great personality! Happy to ring in the holiday season with my new pup! -Jacqueline D. |
CASH (NOW TEDDY)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2019
Cash (now Teddy) capture my attention the moment I laid eyes on him. He looked like this sweet boy looking for a forever home, so I made up my mind and took the first steps to meet him, without knowing I would be blessed to bring him home with me. It’s been over two weeks and he adapted so fast! He’s playful, obedient and a loving dog (I got lucky). Thank you Cape Ann for giving me the opportunity to bring joy to a loving puppy. -Jessica M. |
KEELEZ (NOW FRANK)
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2019
Frank (on the right) is a delight! He is a total snuggle bug, totally chill & came fully prepared to have fun. We have learned that he likes long walks, is a good traveler & seems willing to give his housemate Elsie time to get used to him as she is showing signs of lap envy. He has already helped her to get more exercise as she is a bit chubby. She lost interest in walks when her prior housemate crossed the rainbow bridge about a year ago. Now she walks really fast trying to be just a shred ahead...it's good for the people too cuz we aren't skinny either! Frank already went on a 2 week road trip with us & was terrific adjusting to changes. I think he scent marked a good bit of route 95's rest areas! He & Elsie saw Santa @ Ace too! -Ted H. |
REX
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2019
We didn’t realize how much we missed having a dog in our family until we brought Rex home! He is absolutely the perfect addition to our family and we adore him! Although he was a very nervous pup, he has adjusted very well. We have been in touch with his foster mom in Puerto Rico and send her pictures and updates every so often. We are so grateful for all that she did for him. He was very well trained and it made the transition very smooth. Now he is a happy, very loved boy. He loves his three human brothers and playing with his doggie friends. His favorite activities are playing fetch, going for walks with dad, runs with mom, and joining family hikes. Thank you CAAA! -Jen A. |
FURY
ADOPTED OCTOBER 2019
My son has been begging for a puppy for years. He attends an agricultural high school and can take his pet to school with him. With great hesitation we decided to allow him to adopt a puppy. We searched high and low trying to find a puppy to adopt. We saw the litter of "Emotion" puppies at Cape Ann Animal Aid and my husband and son decided to take a chance on a long drive to see if they could adopt a puppy. The shelter was busy that day as everyone was trying to adopt a puppy. My son immediately fell in love with Fury. Fury came over to him and made my son so happy. My husband stood guard over Fury so that everyone would know that he was already taken. Fury came home with them that day and we couldn't be happier. Fury has brought so much joy to our lives. My daughter and I are not "dog people" but we have fallen in love with him. We are attending weekly Puppy Manners classes and my son couldn't be happier. I'm realizing that there is a whole dog community and everyone comes together to help you through puppy challenges. Fury loves to cuddle with my son every day and we go for daily walks on a nature trail near our house. We are truly enjoying our time with him. We had no idea how our lives would change with our new family member. We couldn't be happier. Thank you for providing such great care to Fury before we got him. We are so happy to have him as part of our family. He is filling a void we had no idea that we had. -Melora H. |
BUTTERCUP (NOW ANNABELLE)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2019
Annie has been with us for approximately 2 weeks. She is a lovable, affectionate and smart dog. She loves to go for walks, go to the dog park and play in the snow. She is house trained now and is working on coming when called off leash. She has been a real joy and tries so hard to please. She is good with other dogs and people and is a gentle sweet dog. She has surely found her forever home and we are so pleased. We love her to bits and am so glad we found her at Cape Ann Animal Aid! -Diane M. |
CARLI (NOW ORION)
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2019
Orion (on the left) came to us as a three and a half or so month old puppy. He came home to be with my other dog, Kieko. Orion is doing amazing. Both dogs love each other and miss each other when the other is absent. Orion attends daycare so he can get used to other dogs and he’s learning all kinds of new things. He is well loved, healthy and happy! - Jennifer C. |
SAMMY
ADOPTED OCTOBER 2019
I wanted to thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt Sammy. It was a tough decision for my husband and I as we lost our previous hound-mix, Mickey, about 3 years ago. We knew no one would replace Mickey, but I must say that Sammy has filled the void we were feeling. Sammy has been the joy in our home now for almost two months and we just love him! He has a wonderful home on the lake, there is a trail across the street where we walk him and it goes for miles. He enjoys walking on and off leash and loves to explore, although not too far from mom. I have started obedience classes with him, as I have hopes of training him for therapy. The teacher thinks he has the right stuff for the job. He's smart, has learned to sit, lay down, stay, wait, not jump, come when called even when not in site. We practice daily. He comes to work with me 3 days a week and loves to play with the other office dog, Claude. Sammy enjoys playing with all other dogs, is never aggressive and loves the dog park. I wanted to thank all of you for the wonderful job you did with Sammy. He came to us well behaved and loved. He was housebroken and had great social skills. Please know that he is loved and will be forever! Thank you again! -Lori W. |
THRILL (NOW PEPPER)
ADOPTED OCTOBER 2019
So far so good. She pretty much just looked out the window and slept on the way home. I just wanted to let everyone there understand how much we appreciated the time and effort that we saw with the animals. You can see how much care went into the adoption process. Thank you from Ripley and myself. The puppy seems to be enjoying herself. We stopped at the beach, went for a walk around the neighborhood, and met a bunch of friends. - Paul G. |
OREO (NOW MILA MAE)
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2019
I came to Cape Ann Animal Aid after seeing a kitten on the website that I fell in love with. She was a beauty! I lost my Maine Coon Cat, Bella, just five months earlier and didn't know if I was ready to welcome a new love into my home yet. When I arrived, I browsed the cages looking for the beauty I had seen and wanted to meet. But before I could even zoom in on her, another black and white kitten reached both of her paws out of the cage and wiggled them back and forth as to say: 'Hey, over here! Come here and listen to me purr!' I could not believe how friendly this little girl was. She definitely caught my attention. I shared with the volunteer which kitten I came to see that day. She took the kitten out and we tried to coax her with a treat or two. She was super timid and just didn't want anything to do with me. All the while the little black and white cat I'd met earlier meowed from afar and kept reaching out to me. I then took the opportunity to take her out of the cage, and immediately she put her head under my neck and purred like a motor boat. We sat in the rocking chair where she nestled in my arms and shut her eye. She just purred and purred for honestly, ten minutes. I knew she was the one. She found me and she was coming home with me. It has been one month since Mila ( she was Oreo ) was at the shelter and came home with me. I can not tell you how much love and gratitude she has given me and how happy and grateful she is to me for saying: 'Yes, you are the one'. She has adjusted nicely, is super playful, loves basking in the sun, and watching TV in my lap. She sleeps right next to me and has from day one. If I get up for any reason in the night, she gets up and follows me. She had a rough beginning of life -- being tossed out on the side of a road with her littermates, but will be given the very best life possible. She is my new 'best buddy' and I am so thankful that I made the trip to Cape Ann Animal Aid and we found each other! Thank-you! -Lauren S. |
BELLE
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2019
My family and I are so happy with Belle as our new addition to our family! I can’t imagine having any other pet than my sweet and kind girl. I’m so thankful for Cape Ann Animal Aid because without them, I would have never met Belle. They are the kindest people and were so helpful during the adoption, making everything so smoothly. It’s been almost a month since we adopted Belle and she is very friendly and outgoing, getting along with everyone who walks into our house. - Calla C. |

After losing our beautiful husky rescue, Suko, we began the search for a rescue puppy that would fit our family. Tess (on the left in the photo) is perfect! She is so friendly, happy, energetic, and full of wiggles! She gets a walk in the woods everyday, and is going to puppy kindergarten. She brings a smile to all those she meets.
