ISABELLE AND CHARENTE (NOW HALLEY AND TELA)
ADOPTED JUNE 2019
Scrolling through Instagram on a rainy June afternoon, I came across Cape Ann Animal Aid’s post featuring two kittens with the most beautiful colors and markings. I stared at the picture for a bit and decided to send a screen shot to my husband. He quickly responded “go get them.” So I did! Isabelle (now Halley) and Charente (now Tela) have added much joy, laughter, and of course, mischief into our home! I adore how much they love each other. I’m so glad that we were able to keep them together. They’re always snuggling and playing together. It’s fun to learn their individual personalities: Halley is independent and confident; Tela is goofy and sweet. They’re a wonderful addition to our home. Thank you to Cape Ann Animal Aid for the easy adoption process and for caring for the animals so well! - Kimberly P. |
GARY
ADOPTED JULY 2019
Gary was described as shy and scared. We have experience with bringing shy cats out of their shells. We have a mellow girl tabby named Cleo and felt she would do well welcoming Gary. We have had three successful day of "scent swapping" and each day Gary is more bold to explore beyond his safe space. Last night the two cats were nose to nose through a door partially opened and they both erped. There were love blinks and lots of talking. Good progress. When he is exploring he is playful and confident. He is an active and affectionate boy. We look forward to many happy years. - Barbara L. |
OREO (NOW ZEKE)
NUTMEG AND CINNAMON
ADOPTED JUNE 2019
I have never adopted before and I am so happy we did. After searching multiple websites, I saw these beautiful little girls and that was it. The process was amazing and I was able to leave with both of them. Cinnamon and Nutmeg are both amazing and adapting to our home very well. I believe as the story goes... They all lived happily ever after. - Keryl R. |
BEVO (NOW LOKI)
SARAH (NOW ONYX)
ADOPTED MAY 2019
Hello from Team Andrea & Onyx! We paired up on the last day of May in 2019. It was love at first sight -- even though I swore to everyone I would not get a puppy! I was looking for a young adult to train into my service dog. But when I saw Onyx it was all over. We have the same backgrounds and traumas, and therefore we get each other. I actually have several disabilities, and since getting Onyx, I've been doing a lot better. I even went through a bad time and she helped me through it like a champ. She teaches me to smell the flowers when we pass them. She teaches me to go to bed at a decent hour. (If I want a spot in bed lol.) There is so much, it's really hard to remember life before Onyx now. So, I thank you, Cape Ann, for finding her...so I could find her!!! First, you rescued my girl, then, she rescued me. - Andrea T. |
OSCAR AND STARLIGHT (NOW MURSHIES AND LUNA)
ADOPTED MAY 2019
It was the total cliche statement of "Oh, I'll just go and LOOK". That its almost never true and dang are we happy we didn't just LOOK. I was going to 'look' for one cat, not two and I definitely wasn't 'looking' for kittens. However, the moment I saw Oscar (now Murshies) and Starlight (now Luna), I KNEW I had to have them. My partner was at work at the time and I video called him about 10 times until he answered. When he finally did, I pointed the camera straight at the kittens and told him they were a package deal and if we didn't adopt them that day, someone else would. He was super hesitant as he was never an animal owner and kittens probably seemed overwhelming to him! I somehow convinced him we could take on two kittens and within an hour, I was grinning ear to ear as I packed them into my car and brought them to their new home. Murshies and Luna are happy and healthy fur babies who have stolen our hearts! We couldn't love them more if we tried; they bring so much chaos, love and fun to our lives! Happy almost one month 'gotcha' day to our forever fur babies! Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid for all your hard work and support on bringing theses cuties into our lives and home! - Bharti P. |
MOOSE (NOW BRODY)
ADOPTED APRIL 2019
I had been wanting a dog for years. I grew up with a German Shepherd and now, at 31, my boyfriend and I bought a house and knew it was time to get a dog. When I came up to Cape Ann Animal Aid, I saw Brody and hung out with him. He just melted my heart and I knew he was the one for me and in our transition to move into our house! He has just been such a sweet, loving boy. He really puts so much joy into our lives. He loves to play soccer and swim in the lake. He loves to play with other dogs and is so smart. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me!! - Janelle V. |
DIESEL AND BANE (NOW BENNY AND CODY)
FINN CAT (NOW BUCKY)
ADOPTED MAY 2019
I had been checking the adoption site every day in hopes of finding a kitten when I saw this handsome boy on the website! I told my fiancé that if he wasn't adopted by the end of the day, we'd be going to get him first thing in the morning. Well he was still available, so we showed up early and were the first ones who got to meet him. He immediately licked our hands in greeting and was automatically friendly and within a few minutes we knew he was the one for us. We have absolutely fallen in love with our Bucky. He loves to watch TV, cuddle on both my fiancé and I, play with shoe laces, and give kisses. Every person that has met him, even dog people, have fallen in love with him, too. We're so grateful to Cape Ann Animal Aid, this isn't the first time I've adopted a pet with them and it certainly won't be the last! - Sara B. |
PATCHES (NOW SMIDGEON)
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2018
I was wanting another kitty after losing my two girls last summer. My remaining cat, Smurfles, was terribly lonely and so I went to Cape Ann Animal Aid to look for a new cat. I knew the minute I saw Patches, now Smidgeon, that she was my new kitty -- she was so friendly and loving. She had been found by the side of the road in Georgia with kittens and came with a hand-written note about how she'd make a good pet because she'd been such a good mom. And she has -- she and Smurfles are best friends now, and she loves sitting on my lap and being petted. We couldn't be happier together! - Kim K. |
DOLORES (NOW PIPPA)
ADOPTED JUNE 2018
Pipppa came to came to Cape Ann Animal Aid through Sweet Paws. I believe she came up from Alabama along with her seven, male, one-week-old puppies. Her story was so sad. She was found at a church with her seven puppies in a box waiting for rescue. All of her puppies were weened and then adopted. She was the only one left. I was lucky enough to find her and she has been so spoiled ever since. This is a picture of her many adventures at Lanes Cove in Gloucester, MA. She has an incredible life here thanks to all of your efforts along with Sweet Paws Rescue. - Kristina R. |
FROSTING (NOW MITTENS)
SAMMY AND VANILLA (NOW SAMMY AND EMMY)
ADOPTED OCTOBER 2018 AND MAY 2019
After my best friend, Grace, passed away a month before her 14th birthday, I knew I needed another dog. She brought so much love and happiness to my life and I was lost without her. I saw Sammy on the Cape Ann Animal Aid website and had to adopt him. Seven months later, I thought Sammy should have a friend and that's when I adopted Vanilla (now Emmy). They are best friends and give me so much love and joy. They make my heart smile. - Lisa R. |
MAGGIE AND SASHA (NOW PAPAYA AND MANGO)
ADOPTED APRIL 2019
I lost my cat Sonora in Feb 2018 after 18 years together. Friends kept telling me to get a new cat but I had a really hard time with it and just wasn't ready. A year and a few months later I just decided to check out shelter websites. I saw Maggie & Sasha on the Cape Ann Animal Aid site and something just clicked. I knew I had to at least go see them in person. I went up as soon as I could on Tuesday and fell in love with them the minute I walked into the cat room. They were curious, playful and so sweet. I wasn't really planning to adopt and didn't have anything ready but there was no way I was leaving without them. The girls were rescues from Puerto Rico so I decided to rename them to honor their beginnings. Papaya and Mango is the same in English and Spanish and both fruits grow in Puerto Rico. A perfect pair. Papaya (Maggie) was fearless from the get-go and very adventurous. Mango (Sasha) was a little more timid and took some time to get comfortable but now just a month later it's like this was always their home. They love chasing each other up and down the stairs, look adorable grooming each other, and cuddle up for nap time. Papaya loves belly rubs and Mango likes having her neck scratched. They love their toys, especially the sparkle fish, plastic springs, mini mice and the feather wand. They've brought me more joy already than I ever expected. Mango's coloring on her back is very similar to Sonora's so I just know it was meant to be! - Marnie G. |
BOOMER
ADOPTED APRIL 2018
We adopted Boomer in April 2018! The first time we saw him was on the website and didn’t think much of him due to him being hairless. A week went by and his cute little face was staring right at me through the computer screen and I knew I had to go check him out! Little did we know we would fall head over heels for this little guy! He has made life SO MUCH FUN! He is the best dog! He loves to snuggle under the covers with you and loves to be with you all the time. He loves to play with toys and sticks are his newest obsession. He has been a complete joy to have and we couldn’t imagine life without him. Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid for allowing him to be part of our life! - Courtney M. |
ONIX
ADOPTED DECEMBER 2016
I saw Onix's picture on the Cape Ann Animal Aid website. He is just a gentle loving dog. We brought my son's dog, Khloe, with us to meet Onix. They play together all the time. I've had him for two years now and he is a great addition to our family. He sleeps in my bed under the covers with me every night! - Robin G. |
MILO (NOW POGUE)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2019
We found Milo back in February. He came all the way from St. Thomas. We were looking for an energetic playmate for our shy female cat. Boy, did we pick right. He has really helped her to come out of her shell. They like to chase each other around the house and snuggle together while napping. While visiting Cape Animal Aid, I could tell the cats liked being there. It's a warm environment with friendly staff. This is the only shelter I have seen with spacious cat condos. I could tell Milo was happy and it was not his first time playing with other cats there when we visited. If I want to adopt another pet in the future, I will definitely come back. - Ashley R. |
SEBANA (NOW GOJI)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2018
I'd wanted a pup for a while but had been living in an apartment where I couldn't have one. Well, I finally moved and got settled, and decided it was time. I went to Cape Ann Animal Aid actually to look at a different pup I saw on the website, but we didn't seem to connect right away. I was ready to leave, a little disappointed, when Sebana (now Goji) caught my eye. When we got to meet, she walked right up to me, sat down, put her paws on my chest and licked my nose - love at first sight! She's attached at my hip around the house, looooves to snuggle, plays great with other dogs, and would be outside all day if I let her. My last name is Berry, so her full name is Goji Berry...get it?! I couldn't resist the pun and her name fits her personality well - silly and fun. - M. Berry |
