SLATE (NOW JAX)
ADOPTED OCTOBER 2019
Jax, formerly Slate, one of nine puppies that were at Cape Ann Animal for adoption, is now ten months old now. We adopted him in October 2019 and he was 4 months old. He has all the best qualities of every dog we've ever owned! We lost our German Shepard, Charlie in September 2018 and although Charlie will never be replaced, Jax is so sweet and loving. He loves people and animals and is such a handsome boy! Adopting another dog is a huge responsibility but we have had no regrets, he is such a love bug and fits in so well with our family. He is great and well adjusted with everyone: elderly, children, cats and dogs. Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid. We'd love to have him meet his siblings if they live local. - Andrea D. |
SHALAMAR (NOW BOOCA)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2007
I was out to lunch across the street from the old [Cape Ann Animal Aid] shelter on Main Street. I had never had a dog before and didn't think I would ever get one. But both my children had just headed off to college and I was having a little empty nest syndrome. A friend of mine, who volunteered at the shelter, ran in to me as I was leaving the restaurant and told me I had to go look at this puppy. I went that day just out of curiosity and the rest is history I fell in love with that little girl though she was not quite ready for adoption yet. I watched that website everyday waiting for her to be ready. I showed up the day she was ready and took her home. She has brought me more love and joy than I could ever have understood before. It's true when they say you don't rescue them they rescue you. - Tracy M. |
FARMER (NOW SAWYER)
ADOPTED MARCH 2019
It's been about a month since we adopted Farmer (now Sawyer!) and it has been one of the best decisions we've made! Everyone who has met him has fallen in love instantly (and he loves them back just as much. Even the vet!) His favorite things to do are: sit in our bay window and talk to the wildlife (turkeys, bunnies, raccoons, gophers) that venture into our yard; cuddle in our laps (we haven't told him he's not a lap dog...); and hang out with the baby. Everything he does makes her laugh and he is very happy to oblige in entertaining her. She is easily his favorite person! [While in the care of Cape Ann Animal Aid, Sawyer had extensive hernia repair surgery prior to his adoption.] The vet says everything with Sawyer looks great, and he won't be surprised if the scar tissue from the hernia becomes less prominent within the year. We go to weekly positive reinforcement training classes. He picks up the commands very quickly, but he can be a bit stubborn listening if he knows I don't have a treat to give ;) He also goes to weekly "structured" daycare, where he's learning socialization skills and gets to play with other pups. He gets multiple jogs a day, and we've slowly started hiking trails (our vet wanted us to ease him in). He has a lot of energy and he loves the exploration. Adding Sawyer to our family has been such a wonderful adventure, and we are so grateful we were able to adopt him. Our days are filled with a lot more laughs and a lot more cuddles. - Stephanie V. |
BANE (NOW BEAR)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2019
After losing our believed fur baby of 13 years, our home felt empty. We were looking for what seemed like forever for a new pup, and ended up at Cape Ann Animal Aid randomly one day. We decided to just go in and look with no expectations. We played with Bear and instantly fell in love! We knew he had to come home with us! We have had Bear for almost 3 months now and he is VERY comfortable let me tell you! He loves to be around the whole family and won’t relax until everyone is in the same room! He loves going to Home Depot, Bass Pro Shops, and going for long walks around the neighborhood where he has met so many new friends! He has brought a special light into our home that has been missing for a while. He is growing so fast and is learning so much since being home. We even got a DNA test because we were so curious as to what breed he is! He is so gentle and sweet but don’t let his puppy eyes fool ya, he is protective when he needs to be. We have so much love for our newest edition to the family and can’t wait to watch him grow! - Lauren A. |
KIM (NOW ZENA)
ADOPTED MAY 2018
Last May I adopted a dog from your facility. At the time her name was Kim but I quickly changed it to Zena. I originally thought she would be company for my 11 year old hound/lab mix named Zack ,(also adopted), but as luck would have Zack hated Zena from the start. It took a while but now they are best friends and do everything together. Zena is a tremendously loveable dog (even when she is being destructive). She also added almost a year to my elderly mother's life as they became quite close until her death in January. - Jeff B. |
STAR TWO (NOW IRIE)
ADOPTED JANUARY 2019
We adopted our beautiful little pup from Cape Ann Animal Shelter in January. She is now 5.5 months old and an extremely well behaved and energetic puppy! She loves going to the beach and sprinting/playing with dogs of all sizes. She is very outgoing and loves to introduce herself to new people and other dogs. She adjusted really quickly to our lifestyle and home and has been a perfect fit for our young and growing family! Her post-adoption name is Irie (eye-ree) meaning happy/worry free and she lives up to her name to the fullest extent possible! - John P. |
MERLIN (NOW RANGER)
ADOPTED AUGUST 2018
Merlin (formerly Ranger) was rescued from Puerto Rico and brought to CAAA by Wags 2 Riches dog rescue, which is run by a childhood friend of mine. I saw her Facebook post about the abandoned kittens coming home with her, and knew I had to have this adorable tiny boy with the big fluffy ears! I got in touch with the shelter and we adopted him ASAP when he checked out ok and was neutered. He turned 1 year old today, and he is an absolute love. As you can see in the picture, life is totally rough as a lap cat at our home! - Rebecca J. |
PABLO (NOW BOSCO)
ADOPTED 2019
Just wanted to send some updated photos of Pablo, (now Bosco) or Boss for short. He has in no time at all become a treasured member of our family. He and his big sister Shela are constantly playing tug of war, and bringing each other toys. She’s been appreciating all the extra trips outside. He is happy and healthy, and his ear is just now starting to perk up. He weighs 30 pounds now! ...He took a lot of time and attention at the start but he is so well adjusted now. We love him so much, thank you again! - Michael and Sarah M. |
MONKEY (NOW PIPER)
ADOPTED 2019
We adopted Monkey- now named Piper and she is an absolute love! She has settled in and is very affectionate. She follows us around everywhere and wants to do whatever we are doing. We tried to keep her in a small room [to get used to things] but she just wouldn’t have it. Yesterday she snuggled with my daughter while she studied and played video games with my son. We kept her in a small room overnight last night and as soon as she got out she jumped on my bed and crawled under the covers next to me and she fell asleep. We adore her! - Julie M. |
