Sometimes, due to many factors (age, size, medical or behavioral needs) we have animals who are overlooked at the shelter. In an effort to give some of our harder-to-place guests a chance, we are introducing a foster-to-adopt program at Cape Ann Animal Aid thanks to a live-saving grant from Petco Love! We hope that by giving some of these dogs or cats a 2-week trial run, you may see the benefits of adopting one of these lovable animals and decide to make it permanent.
Foster-to-adopt animals are hand-picked by CAAA staff, and any animal not listed below is not eligible for our foster-to-adopt program. If you are interested in fostering to adopt one of the below animals, please fill out the application below.
Details:
- Foster-to-Adopt program gives families 2 weeks to decide if the animal they are fostering would be a good fit for their home
- Animal will be pulled off the website for 2 weeks to ensure there is no pressure on the family to decide before the deadline
- Some supplies may be borrowed from CAAA during foster period
- If at any point the living arrangement is not working out, you may bring your foster back to CAAA
- If you decide not to adopt but would like to continue to foster until your pet is adopted, you will be trained for the full adoption process for public adoptions
- Applications are approved as a typical adoption and are subject to all adoption policies and procedures
- Please Note: Due to isolation laws in different states, Foster-to-Adopt from CAAA is only available to MA residents. Foster-to-Adopt pets may not leave the state of Massachusetts at any time during the foster period.

ROYALE - 1 YEAR OLD - IN FOSTER
Royale spent the weekend in a foster home, and the foster reports that: "Royale took no time to make herself comfortable between cuddling up with us and playing with her toys. She is a smart girl and eager to keep learning. With patience and repetition, it didn't even take a us a full day to house train her. Now that's something! She also kept her crate clean and slept quietly through the night. We spent a good amount of time outside meeting people on walks and runs. She was great with every person she met, receiving compliments not only for her good looks but how well she would sit when asked. With her spurts of energy it was definitely important keeping her active followed by a nice nap on your shoulder." |
MAX - 1 YEAR OLD
In the market for someone tall, dark and handsome? Meet Max! This extremely good looking guy just happens to be in the market for his forever home! Max is an active young man with a goofy puppy like personality- his favorite toys are stuffies. He will throw them around the play yard and get zoomies to show his appreciation of the wonderful toy selection. With his long legs, there is no doubt that he will be able to keep up with you on hikes and all kinds of fun adventures, by the end of the day he is happy to curl up with a comfy blanket and get cuddles! Max hasn't had a lot of experience with other dogs so he can be a bit conflicted when seeing/meeting other dogs, so he is hoping someone has the time and patience to continue his socialization. If you give him the chance he is sure to give you all his love in return! |

VALDO - 9 MONTHS OLD
Hello, Valdo here. I am a low rider pup that had a very tough start in life. I am a bit shy but very gentle. I weigh in at about 30 lbs and I am almost 10 months old so they don't think I have much more growing to do. I am what you would call a Puerto Rican Sato that was found as a puppy on the box with my siblings. I was lucky enough be to found by some loving rescuers who brought me to safety and took care of me until I could come to the states and Cape Ann Animal Aid. Because I am a bit shy they are asking that i go home with another pup. If you are interested in adopting me ,please fill out an online application and come visit me at the shelter during regular visiting hours. |
WILLOW - 1 YEAR OLD
Hey furiends, Miss Willow here. I was found as a stray and put into foster once they found out I was pregnant! I was a very good mom and protected my babies. We were brought to Cape Ann Animal Aid to find our furever homes! All of my kittens have found loving homes and now it's my turn to find one of my own. I have never been into super close handling but I do love to play with my laser pointer and roll around my ball that's filled with treats, who wouldn't love that right? I am a super playful girl that can get bored at times, If I don't have playtime I may decide to swat or love bite. I am looking for someone who has cat experience and a home with no children. If you think we'd be a good match, fill out an application online and come meet me during open hours! |
