Sometimes, due to many factors (age, size, medical or behavioral needs) we have animals who are overlooked at the shelter. In an effort to give some of our harder-to-place guests a chance, we are introducing a foster-to-adopt program at Cape Ann Animal Aid thanks to a live-saving grant from Petco Love! We hope that by giving some of these dogs or cats a 2-week trial run, you may see the benefits of adopting one of these lovable animals and decide to make it permanent.
Foster-to-adopt animals are hand-picked by CAAA staff, and any animal not listed below is not eligible for our foster-to-adopt program. If you are interested in fostering to adopt one of the below animals, please fill out the application below.
Details:
- Foster-to-Adopt program gives families 2 weeks to decide if the animal they are fostering would be a good fit for their home
- Animal will be pulled off the website for 2 weeks to ensure there is no pressure on the family to decide before the deadline
- Some supplies may be borrowed from CAAA during foster period
- If at any point the living arrangement is not working out, you may bring your foster back to CAAA
- If you decide not to adopt but would like to continue to foster until your pet is adopted, you will be trained for the full adoption process for public adoptions
- Applications are approved as a typical adoption and are subject to all adoption policies and procedures

CHANCE - 10 MONTHS
Hello there, Chance here. I am a sweet pup that just needs another chance to find my forever home. I am a playful pup that loves to play outside and go for walks. I am very friendly with kids, adults and other animals. I'm a very happy boy. I can be a little bit shy at first and the shelter is a very scary place so I am still getting use to all the noises and smells here at the shelter. I have a friend with me here at the shelter that I love to play with and his name is Harley so I would sure love to have a playmate to live with and play with. I was originally rescued from the Houston area and was lucky to be transported to New England to find a forever and loving home. |
MADI - 4 MONTHS OLD
Madi is a sweet and exuberant little lady who is around 4 months old. She is full of energy and enthusiasm. She loves to romp around outside in the grass and play with toys of all sorts. She is still learning all about how to become an excellent companion, but she is off to a great start. She is learning all about leash walking, car rides and not jumping up on people. If you are up for continuing her training, and are ready to add a great gal like Madi to your family, submit an online application and stop in during our regular visiting hours. |
HARLEY - 10 MONTHS OLD
Looking for a new best friend? Harley is looking for her person to share all her love with! She traveled here from TX with her friend Chance in search of home and fresh start in life. Harley is large in size weighing in about 50 lbs. Harley is looking for family that can teach her all the good things in life, she can be a bit unsure with people and situations but does warms up rather quickly .Harley is a busy girl who might enjoy agility or activities to keep her stimulated. Since Harley lived with Chance in the past she may enjoy a dog with similar qualities. She would do best in a home with older children, she is playfully goofy and doesn't quite know her size! |
