TAY (NOW SCOOTER)
ADOPTED MAY 2022
I currently have four cats. My second, Sabrina, I got from Cape Ann Animal Aid back at the beginning of 2019. She is such a beautiful, sweet cat. Because I had such an awesome experience with her, I decided to also get my fourth cat from Cape Ann Animal Aid. I instantly fell in love with "Tay's" cute little face. I just loved the markings he had on him. I decided that he was the one and I applied for him immediately. The next morning, I set up a zoom call with him so that I could see him a bit more before I picked him up. During the zoom call he was super cute and interacted well with the other cats in his liter. I made the decision that I was going to pick him up that afternoon. When I arrived he was sleeping and the amazing staff there let me hold him while they got the paperwork ready for me. He snuggled into my arms and purred and I was so happy to meet him. He was quiet and so well behaved the whole 45-minute ride home. When I brought him home I let my other cats sniff him while he was in the cage. It took about a week for them to all accept him, but now he now roams the whole house. We named him Scooter to go with our other "S" cat names. We now have a Salem, Sabrina, Samantha and Scooter. Him and my other three cats get along so well! He snuggles with them and plays with them all the time. He fits right into the family. He found a spot on the bed at night to claim his own and I now have three out of my four cats in the bed with me at night. He is such an awesome guy and I am so happy I picked him; I couldn't picture my life without him. I wouldn't want it any other way than having him as the new addition to my family. I can't wait to watch him grow up and share lots of memories with him. -Kayla W. |
MAXI (GINGER)
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 2004
We adopted Ginger almost 18 years ago. She was from Puerto Rico. When I was a kid I traveled to PR and saw all the homeless dogs. It affected me deeply. I was so excited to rescue this beautiful dog from Cape Ann Animal Aid. She had some resource guarding issues that we worked through. Over time, She turned into the best family dog. My kids grew up with her. They were 5 and 2 when we got her. She gave us 17 years of love and devotion. We had to put her down on Friday 6/3. The vet came to the house. And put her to sleep in her own bed. It was peaceful for my girl. Thank You CAAA for bringing so much joy into our lives. -Stacey M. |
TOBY (NOW LULU)
ADOPTED MAY 2022
Toby (now Lulu) is a tiny and very sassy 18.5 year old persian cat who lost her only owner and found herself suddenly in a shelter for the first time. In all honestly I really wasn't looking to adopt another cat but I went to visit her I was instantly drawn in by her confidence and cute little crooked walk. I wanted to give her a second chance to have another family. She has already been to her new Vet who said for her age she was in great health. She really took no time to adjust to our home with her 3 senior siblings, 2 cats and a dog. She has bonded with me but took to my son immediately. She seems to have took over his room and his bed and declared him her person. She is a funny cat with quite a bit of attitude. I am so happy she feels so comfortable here. We already love her so much. Thank you Cape Ann for taking care of our new baby for so long and choosing us to adopt her. -Bethany C. |
WINTER (NOW MIMOSA)
KODA
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2021
We saw Koda’s picture on the Cape Ann Animal Aid website and knew he was the one for us. He confirmed this for us when we visited the shelter and found him relaxing in the office chair rather than secured in his cage. Some pets and a head bump later, the deal was sealed. We had a new 6 year old kitty. Koda is the center of attention in his new home. At first he didn’t like to be held at all, preferring to just hang out close by. Now he tolerates the cuddles much better and likes to snuggle into the corner of the sofa or on your lap if you have a soft blanket. Koda also loves to stretch out on the carpet for belly rubs. His favorite toy is the laser pointer and he purrs most loudly in the bedroom. We couldn’t be happier and more in love with this furry addition to our family. Thanks Cape Ann Animal Aid! -Chris D. |
ARMY (NOW RUSSELL)
ADOPTED MAY 2022
We love Russell so much! He was skittish at first and we kept him in his own room just to settle him in. It took him 4 days looking to meet our other cat Zya (female 6 yrs old). They play and sleep together. Russell just started to let me, and my husband pet him. His favorite toys are green ping pong balls. I can't say enough about him, he is so playful, and we love him very much. -Tina C. |
FEZCO (NOW PO)
ADOPTED APRIL 2022
Po has brought every member of our family so much happiness! When we visited him at Cape Ann Animal Aid, the volunteers said he was shy with people and would do well with another dog to show him the way. They were so right! Once Po was home with us it didn't take him long to show his sweet, smart, playful self. Our older dog, Lilly, also adopted from CAAA years ago, has shown Po the ropes of family life and Po has reinvigorated Lilly's playtime. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of these animals until they joined our family! -Elizabeth D. |

CHARLIE
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2022
We lost one of our fur babies to kidney disease a while back and it left our younger boy without a playmate. We were looking around and fell in love with an orange kitty at Cape Ann. He was so sweet and attentive to our presence. Once we adopted him and brought him home his new brother was naturally suspicious but once he saw Charlie’s energy they became instant playmates. Charlie is very affectionate to both his dads and is showing signs of being a wicked smart little boy. He love jumping up on the sink to ask for a sip of water and also demands head boops. He has fit into our family so well and we couldn’t be happier to have him in our lives. -Jonathon D. |
IRWIN (NOW RIO)
ADOPTED MARCH 2022
Rio was going to be adopted for my dog who was sick with congestive heart failure. He loved puppies and the hope was that Rio would make him happy. A day before I met Rio, my other dog passed away. I considered cancelling my appointment but something told me to go. I met Rio and it was love at first sight. After being with him for a few minutes, I knew he was the perfect match. It was like my dog sent him from heaven to be with us. He has blended with the rest of the family and my other Cape Ann Animal Aid rescue Neva the cat! He has brought us so much joy that I did not think was possible after losing my other dog. I cannot thank the staff enough for another wonderful adoption! We love Rio so much and are extremely grateful you helped pair us together ! -Stacey G. |
TUCKER (NOW DUKE)
JOSEPH AND JAMES (NOW BANDIT AND JIMMY)
ADOPTED MARCH 2022
We had been looking for a bonded pair of kittens to join our family. These brothers are so bonded, they follow each other everywhere. They have fit right in and are friends with our dog and older cat. Pick either one up and the loud purring machine starts. They love tummy rubs and long sleeps in the sun. This has been the Best Birthday Present I have given myself and family ever. -Kathleen C. |
WES (NOW KODA)
ADOPTED APRIL 2021
I wanted to adopt a pup and started looking on Monday, April 12th, 2021- that morning, I saw a picture of Wes and fell in love with his sweet face. By the end of the day, I met him on zoom and was told he's all mine. He was described as goofy and fearless and I can't think of a better description. He loves all people and animals, all he wants is attention and greets everyone with his goofy little smile. He loves his walks, adventures, cookies, treats and snuggles. He is my baby boy and has been such great addition to my life. Thank you Cape Ann Animal Aid! -Robin S. |
LUCY (NOW LULU)
JACKIE O (NOW JACKIE)
ADOPTED MAY 2018
I wanted to share that Jackie O has never felt like an adopted dog. She felt and acted like family from day one. It is is almost 4 years later and we could if not asked for a better rescue. Please keep up the great work. I wanted to share this selfie of us taken yesterday. I think it’s funny. -Yvette A. |
SIZZLER (NOW TACO)
CITRUS AND DONALD (NOW FRED & GEORGE WEASLEY)
SEPTEMBER 2021
Our guy Simon passed away after 13+ years with us. We went to multiple shelters with no luck and happened upon CAAA, walked into the cat room and there they were! We almost went with another group but they kept drawing me back. They took a while to adjust as they were semi feral but fast forward to March and let's just say we live here with them. So glad they kept looking so hopefully at us and we took the chance! -Susan M. |
KIP AND LAFAWNDUH (NOW JOE AND MISTY)
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2022
We saw Joe and Misty's pictures and had to head down to the shelter to meet them in person. These two were strays found in Chelsea approx 10 months old. Misty was a sweet scared little cat who stayed in her cage at the shelter even with the door open, Joe was we believe a litter mate and they were a bonded pair. Joe was curious and playful but not into being touched. It was a tough decision as they were described as Spirit Cats. Ones who may come out of their shell or may not. We thought we would give them a chance to unwind and have a home, we had exactly what was needed in the description of what they were looking for in a forever home. It’s only been about 6 weeks, they are still on the shy side with touch but show us every day that they're settling in beautifully. They both love to play and romp around constantly. Joe struts around and loves to sit in the windows to watch the birds. Misty comes out of her shell every day too, never stops playing or discovering new places to enjoy in the house. They seem to be coming around with the small dog Atlas. They are growing everyday, they are always visible, ready to play and get more comfortable daily with us. I know in time they will enjoy gentle pats and love from their humans. -Dana S. |
